The Moving On project, a transitions service run by charity Action on Hearing Loss Scotland and funded by the Big Lottery, is now active in Forth Valley Sensory Centre. There are currently 2 employment advisors in the building who are able to offer a range of tailored support to young people aged 16 -25 who are D/deaf or have a hearing loss and are seeking employment.
The service offers a person centred approach to providing employability support. Young people can receive help with CV building, interview skills, job searching and filling in application forms as well as help with applying for university or college. The team can also help with sourcing work placements, voluntary opportunities and training.
All of our employment advisors are trained in BSL to a high level and are fully deaf aware. They provide an individualised support package and one to one guidance to the young people they work with. Moving On aims to build young people’s confidence and skills set to prepare them for transition into employment, training or further education.
Referrals to the service are welcome, as are self-referrals from young people.
