Another fun filled week ahead of us here at the centre! Why not pop into our cafe for a warming bowl of soup, we’re open to the public Monday-Friday 9am-3pm.
On Monday our Choir will be in from 10.30am-12pm, led by the wonderful Aimee Toshney, we are working towards our Christmas Performances for our Winter Fayre on 2nd December and our trip to Morrisons on 19th December. The choir meets fortnightly, is open to all and costs £5.
Voices off British Sign Language session is on Monday from 6.30-7.30pm, this is a laidback group where you can learn and practice BSL. Open to all, and free! Contact Allan for more information on this group at allan.simpson@falkirk.gov.uk.
On Tuesday our Stirling Blind and Partially Sighted Social Group is meeting at the Bellfield Centre from 11am-1pm. We will be having a visit from Allan Simpson and Alan Green from the Sensory Services team who are going to tell the group a bit about what they can help with and different assistive technologies they could be entitled to. This group meets on the second Tuesday of each month and costs £2 for tea/coffee and biscuits.
The IT Classes are running on their usual sessions. These run Tuesday 1pm-3pm and 3pm-5pm, Thursday 1pm-3pm (college only, this class is closed to new interest at present), and Friday 1pm-3pm. We will have spaces on our Tuesday and Friday classes for anyone who would like to learn more about computers, tablets and phones and their accessibility features. Class costs £5 for fully supported expert tutelage. Interpreter can be provided on request.
On Wednesday our History Group will be meeting from 11am-12pm, we will be having a talk from the fantastic Pat Reid on local history. This group meets on the second Wednesday of the month and is free on most occasions. Open to all, an interpreter is provided for these sessions.
The BSL OAP Group will be back in for their usual session from 12.30pm-2.30pm.
The Art Group is also back this Wednesday from 1.15pm-3.15pm, led by art tutor Val Martin this group mostly do tactile art pieces but are open to a range of different art styles. This group meets fortnightly and costs £5.
Thursday the Braille Class will return from 10.30am-12pm. This class is led by tutor Christine Moroney and runs weekly term time.
Also on Thursday, our volunteer led Voices Off class is on from 11am-12.30pm. This class is open to anyone who would like to learn or practice British Sign Language including complete beginners. This is a laidback group that allows group members to learn at their own pace.
The Braveheart Group will be leaving the centre for their usual walk from the centre at 11.30am on Friday. This is a leisurely walk around the local area that lasts approx 45-60 minutes with the option to pop into Cafe Tiki for some lunch and a cuppa afterwards. Sighted Guides provided if necessary.
The Youth Group is back this Friday for it’s usual session from 6pm-7.15pm. This group engages in a range of different activities. From P7-S6, if you are D/deaf or have sight loss or are the friend or family of someone with D/deafness or sight loss then this is the group for you!
The Friday Deaf Club meets on Friday for their usual session from 7pm-10pm.
