It may be halloween but hopefully nothing too scary will be happening this week! We announced the winner of our Halloween Welcome Desk Prize last Wednesday, be sure to check it out on Facebook! The nights might be drawing in quicker and colder but we still have hot homemade soup on offer every day in our Cafe Tiki open to the public Monday-Friday 9am-3pm.

On Monday our Lip Reading Peer Support Group will be meeting from 11am-1pm. This is a laidback peer support group for people wanting to practice their lip-reading skills.

Also on Monday our Knit and Natter Group will be back to their usual time from 1pm-3pm. We are well under way with making things for our upcoming Winter Fayre on 2nd December. This group is open to anyone who likes to knit, crochet or even would like to come along for a blether. We have volunteers who can assist if you would like to learn to knit too. This group is free and refreshments can be purchased from the cafe.

The Voices Off Cafe will be back this evening from 6.30pm-7.30pm. This British Sign Language Class is open to anyone who would like to learn or practice BSL. If you would like more information on this class or would like to sign up please contact Allan Simpson at allan.simpson@falkirk.gov.uk.

The IT Classes are running on their usual sessions. These run Tuesday 1pm-3pm and 3pm-5pm, Thursday 1pm-3pm (college only, this class is closed to new interest at present), and Friday 1pm-3pm. We will have spaces on our Tuesday and Friday classes for anyone who would like to learn more about computers, tablets and phones and their accessibility features. Class costs £5 for fully supported expert tutelage. Interpreter can be provided on request.

David’s Cookery Classes are still available to anyone who would like to gain more confidence in the kitchen. We still have a bit of a waiting list but if you’d like to be considered. These classes run for three weeks on a one-to-one basis from 11am-1pm and cover starters, mains and desserts. This class is free and open to all.

On Wednesday, the BSL OAP Group will be back in for their usual session from 12.30pm-2.30pm.

Also on Wednesday our Lip Reading Class led by Jill Bradshaw will be on from 4pm-6pm. This class is for anyone who might like to learn more about lip-reading, especially useful for people who might have audio processing issues or hard of hearing.

Slimming World is also back on Wednesday evening from 5pm-7pm. For more information on Slimming World please get in touch with Sandra at 07803 172441.

Thursday the Braille Class will return from 10.30am-12pm. This class is led by tutor Christine Moroney and runs weekly term time.

The Braveheart Group will be leaving the centre for their usual walk from the centre at 11.30am on Friday. This is a leisurely walk around the local area that lasts approx 45-60 minutes with the option to pop into Cafe Tiki for some lunch and a cuppa afterwards. Sighted Guides provided if necessary.

Our Youth Group is back this Friday from 6pm-7.15pm! We will be joined once again by Laura Kemp from Youth Scotland who is going to be doing a gruesomely awesome special effects workshop with us! This group is open to P7-S6 pupils, if you are D/deaf or have sight loss or are the friend or family of someone with D/deafness or sight loss then this is the group for you!

The Friday Deaf Club meets on Friday for their usual session from 7pm-10pm.
