It might be the beginning of the summer holidays for schools, and some groups may be taking a break, but we still have plenty of things planned to get involved with!
On Monday our Knit and Natter group will be back for a socially distanced session in the café from 1pm to 3pm. This group is open to all, so feel free to bring along some knitting or crochet, or even just come along for a blether!
The Youth Group are moving to a new timeslot for the summer holidays! Starting on Thursday 1st July, we will be running a summer programme with Falkirk – Community Learning & Development for 10-18 year olds with sensory loss every Thursday and Friday until 6th August. This will be from 11am-2pm, the group is free and lunch is included! For our first session we will be getting to know each other and playing some games, on Friday we will be starting weaving with art tutor Val Martin. We have many more exciting things planned, including glass slumping, mural work, cooking with Forth Environment Link, and a circus workshop with Falkirk Community Trust.
The Braveheart group will be leaving from the Sensory Garden on Friday at 11.30am for their weekly walk. This is a leisurely stroll around the local area which lasts 45-60 minutes. Open to all.
If anyone is interested in joining a Young Person’s Blind and Partially Sighted Social Group, much like our Talk and Sign Group this group looks to engage with people between the ages of 18-40 for social excursions and talks, please get in touch.
Another upcoming opportunity is Golf with Blind Golf Scotland, they are looking to run some taster sessions at Fairways Indoor Golf Arena in Falkirk and Stirling Golf Club in early August. There will be coaches available for these sessions and the opportunity to compete if participants would like to move to that level. This is open to anyone with a visual impairment from age 16+.
If anyone would like any more information about any of our groups or has a question, please contact Linsey at sensory@forthvalleysensorycentre.org or by phoning 01324 590888.
