What’s On W/C 13th February

We drew our Welcome Desk Competition on Friday (Check out our facebook for the video!) and the lucky winner was Duncan McPhee! I’m sure your valentine will appreciate the prize 😉 Remember that our Cafe Tiki is open to the public Monday-Friday 9am-3pm, so why not pop along for a warming bowl of soup or a cheeky bit of cake!

On Monday the Choir are in from 10.30am-12pm. This group is open to all, and is led by Aimee Toshney, though will soon be changing to Catriona Lang after this week’s session. The group enjoys a variety of different songs, and though we have no performances lined up at the moment, this group is a great way to warm up the vocal chords and have a jolly singalong! Session costs £5.

The lip-reading peer support group will also be back on Monday, from 11am-1pm. This group is for people who would like to practice their lip-reading in a quiet social environment.

Our Knit and Natter group also returns on Monday from 1pm-3pm. This group love a blether just as much as they love knitting! Suitable for beginners as well as experts, we have volunteers who can assist with knitting and crochet as well. An interpreter is available for these sessions.

The Lip-reading class will be back this evening as well. These sessions are led by lip-reading Tutor Jill Bradshaw and are weekly from 4pm-6pm.

Voices Off is on this evening from 6.30pm-7.30pm. This British Sign Language class is open to all ages, complete beginners are welcome as are people who would like to practice what they know. If you would like to learn more about this group please contact Allan at allan.simpson@falkirk.gov.uk.

The Stirling Group have a change of venue this month! We will be meeting at Stirling Central Library where the Argyll and Sutherland Highland Regimental Museum will be bringing down some handling boxes for the group. We meet from 11am-1pm. Tea, coffee and biscuits £2. Transport can be provided, cost £5 regardless of area.

Please note that there will be no IT Classes or Braille Class this week as the college are on holiday. They will both return next week.

Wednesday our BSL OAP will meet at their usual time from 12.30pm-2.30pm. This group is for deaf BSL speakers, and they love a bit of Bingo as well as a good old blether!

Slimming World also meet on Wednesday from 5pm-7pm, drop in is available. For more information on this group please contact Sandra on 07803 172441.

The FVSC Volunteer led Voices off class will meet from 11am-12.30pm. This group is open to anyone who would like to learn or practice British Sign Language. They will now be meeting weekly. There is no fee for this group.

The braveheart group will be leaving for the usual walk from the sensory garden at 11.30am-12.30pm. This is a leisurely walk around the local area lasting approximately 45 minutes to an hour. Guides are available.

Our 8-12 Youth Group is growing! We welcomed three new and returning faces to our group last week and are delighted to continue that momentum. This week we will be doing cake decorating with Volunteer Laura Stewart! If you are D/deaf or have sight loss or are the friend or family of someone with D/deafness or sight loss then this is the group for you! New participants welcome.

The Deaf Club meets on Friday for their usual session from 7pm-10pm.
