Vote Glasgow Goalball!

Our friends over at Glasgow Goalball have the chance to scoop some funding from insurance firm Aviva. They need votes for their team in order to scoop the cash!

As a Centre offering self-defence, walking, tennis and potentially curling in the near future, we understand how important accessible sport can be to people with a sensory condition and this is a great charity to support.

Goalball is played at the Paralympic Games and was invented in 1946 specifically for blind people to play with a special bell filled ball. Each team has three players on the court at a time and another 1 to 3 players on the bench. A goal is scored when the ball completely crosses the goal line (which is marked with tape and twine so it is visible and tactile) and each goal is worth one point.

For those interested in trying Goalball or other blind sports, there is a come try sports day for on the 11 November in Glasgow

You can download the full rules from the International Blind Sports Federation website.
