We might be in lockdown but 1st to 7th June is Volunteer’s Week 2020! Our volunteers are vital to our work at Forth Valley Sensory Centre and we’d like to say thank you to each and every one.
Normally we would have a volunteer celebration event with awards and thank yous and tea and cake! Basically everything we can do to let our volunteers know how much they are appreciated.
Of course for Volunteer’s Week 2020 we can’t do that but we promise we will try to arrange something when we can and it doesn’t mean our appreciation is diminished!
We will have thank you videos through the week and we hope to start a new facebook group for our volunteers to help them keep in touch.
Volunteer Coordinator Caroline Storey said:
“One of my main tasks when I took on the role was to make sure our volunteers felt valued. We achieved our Volunteer Friendly Award and that speaks volumes about how much volunteers mean to the Centre. We have over 50 at the moment, and only 10 part and full time staff. The simple fact is that we couldn’t do what we do, all the groups, classes, trips and support work without our army of volunteers so thank you all.”
Centre Manager Jacquie Winning added:
“Since lockdown started we have not been able to run any of our normal services and we know our volunteers, normally so active, will be struggling like anyone else. While we have been reaching out to Centre Users, with telephone befriending etc, I’ve asked Caroline to return to work and put a similar system for volunteers in place. A big thank you to all volunteers from the staff and users of Forth Valley Sensory Centre.”
Volunteer’s Week 2020 is supported by the various third sector interface organisations in the area, Stirlingshire Voluntary Enterprise, Clackmannanshire Third Sector Interface and CVS Falkirk. This year, CVS Falkirk are asking people to colour in their flyer and help show your support. Limitations of being able to print at home or colour in on screen are accepted! But if you can, feel free to tweet them @CVSFalkirk and include @FVSensoryCentre too!
