Forth Valley Sensory Centre is hosting a Summer Garden Party to say “welcome back” to our Centre Users, Volunteers, Partners, Funders and Supporters who have stuck by the charity throughout the pandemic. The drop-in event, will be held in the Sensory Garden on August 12th between 12:30 pm till 3 pm. There will also be a chance to tour the new look Sensory Centre as we prepare to re-start groups and classes with a new Technology hub and refurbished entrance.
This Summer Garden Party will include a Barbecue, tombola, a collection of stalls and activities, raffle and a view/tour of the new entrance and tech hub. There will also be some wellbeing sessions with David Black, our blind and deaf cook. A £2 admission charge to cover costs will be applied to all attendees but this will include a burger or hotdog and soft drink.
Jacquie Winning, CEO, Forth Valley Sensory Centre said: “It will be great to finally open up our services for Centre Users once again. Throughout the pandemic, we have worked hard to adapt and stay safe in order to provide some of the services people with sensory conditions in the local area need.
“A new ‘Welcome Zone’ has been created to provide better access and we have transformed our Resource Area into a Technology Hub, however, due to the pandemic, many people have been unable to visit. I look forward to hosting some guided tours around the new areas within the Centre and sharing our vision for the future.”
The Welcome Zone has been created with funding from the Community Recovery Fund while the Technology Hub was funded by Blindcraft Trust, Suez Communities Trust and ???. Our Welcome Zone is a wipe clean space offering easier distancing and accessibility for Centre visitors while the Technology Hub focuses on closing the digital divide, helping people with sensory conditions to find our more about the resources and gadgets available to help them live more independently.
The Summer Garden Party is also a chance to thank our loyal Centre volunteers and perhaps encourage some new volunteers.

Without you, none of this would have been possible, you have made calls, managed online events, fundraised and provided some much needed relief to people across Forth Valley. Thank you again for all of your very hard work.”
