Pop-Up Restaurant 21st September!

Forth Valley Sensory Centre in partnership with Forth Environment Link (FEL) are putting on an event to stimulate our senses; a pop-up restaurant! Taking place at 6pm on 21st September, the restaurant will feature home cooked food made with seasonal local produce. The menu will come without a fixed price tag as diners will be asked to ‘pay as you feel’.

Starter: Vegetable Soup

Main: Pumpkin Lasagne with a Red Autumn Slaw

Dessert: Orchard Crumble

Just 35 places are available for the event which is expected to be a sell-out. The pop-up restaurant is being hosted at the Centre with Tickets are available from Forth Valley Sensory Centre or online here. Please speak to reception or call if you would like a ticket but do not want to use eventbrite.

Centre Manager Jacquie Winning said:
“The Centre is well known for helping people with sensory loss, especially hearing or vision. Now, working with Forth Environment Link, we are also tackling the sense of taste and the sense of smell with what we hope will be some fabulous, seasonal food.

“We aren’t looking for super ‘posh nosh’ it will be rustic, local and fresh. It is great people can pay what they think the meal was worth as this adds a different dimension to the evening. We are confident it will be a great success so get a ticket early to avoid disappointment!”

Food will be supplied by local farmers and producers in Falkirk and Forth Valley as much as possible, showcasing the bounty available on our doorstep. Forth Environment Link has strong connections to many local producers through initiatives such as The Stirling Food Assembly.

Emily Harvey, who heads up FEL’s Local Food work said: “We just want people to connect with good food. One of the main ways to do that is how it tastes, smells and feels to eat. So, working in partnership with Forth Valley Sensory Centre provides us with a great way to get people talking about local food.

Finding more ways to eat together, in an affordable way, is important if we want to help our local communities thrive. We have so much amazing food, being produced by people who really care about what we eat,  so this is a great showcase for it.”
