Forth Valley Sensory Centre is hoping to make the most of the opportunity to once again host a pop-up charity shop in Grangemouth’s La Porte Precinct from 17th July.
Last year, a similar initiative raised £2000 for the Centre which helps people with sensory issues, as well as their friends, families and carers deal with sight or hearing loss. There will be help and advice on dealing with sensory conditions available from Centre partners too, including NHS Forth Valley, Scottish War Blinded and RNIB Scotland.
Donations of clean clothes and good condition bric-a-brac can be dropped off at the charity shop from 17th July. All proceeds from the charity shop will go directly to helping blind, partially sighted, deaf and hearing impaired people across the Forth Valley area, including, Falkirk, Stirling and Alloa.
Fundraising co-ordinator Lynne Frail said:
“Last year was an overwhelming success raising twice as much as expected. The support from the local community as well as volunteers, Centre Users and staff was amazing.
“We are really grateful to Falkirk Council Development Services, Growth & Investment Unit for the opportunity; we just need items to sell now! We are after clean clothes for all ages and if these could be bagged by age or sex, for example, children’s, men’s or ladies’ that would be a massive help to our volunteers who will be helping to set up the shop.”
Clothes can be dropped off from 9am Monday morning and the store opens for business at the same time. The shop will be crewed by staff from the Forth Valley Sensory Centre and a host of volunteers, including staff from the DWP who are being allowed to come along and support the Centre.
For those looking to gain more information about help with access to services or sight loss, NHS Forth Valley Disability Team will be on hand during Monday and Tuesday (17th and 18th July). Scottish War Blinded are along on Wednesday 19th July and RNIB Scotland are in the shop on Friday 21st July.
