£500 investment made from ‘Community Matters’ initiative
Forth Valley Sensory Centre has been awarded a £500 donation from the Waitrose store in Stirling as part of the Community Matters initiative.
The money will help the Centre to continue to provide services, activities and support to people of all ages with hearing loss or visual impairment from across Falkirk, Stirling and Clackmannanshire.
Lynne Frail, Fundraising Coordinator, Forth Valley Sensory Centre said: “We are delighted to receive this money from Waitrose in Stirling. We work with people from all across the area and have a very popular visually impaired group from Stirling who have monthly meetings in Stirling and outings from the Centre.
“The money will benefit this and other similar groups who rely on the Centre for social gatherings and wider support. We want to pass on our thanks to Waitrose customers for their recognition of our work.”
Waitrose Community Matters Coordinator, Elaine Hunter said: “We are proud to be supporting the Forth Valley Sensory Centre on behalf of our customers. The Community Matters scheme allows people to choose where their donation goes to and it is great to see such strong backing for a great charity working for people here in Stirling and across Forth Valley.”
Community Matters began in 2008 and in that time has made over £14m available to charities across the UK. These might be national charities working across Britain or local ones with particular relevance to customers of an individual store.
Lynne Frail added: “We are also here for families who might need help caring for a loved one with a sensory impairment or who want to be sure that their friend or family member is receiving all the support they need.
“We support people of all ages and the Centre has a number of facilities such as the garden and café which are fully accessible to the general public. We are a real hub for the sensory impaired and wider community and it is lovely that this has been reflected in the donation from Waitrose.”
