Charity shop for Forth Valley Sensory Centre raises £2000

Forth Valley Sensory Centre, which has been supporting people across Forth Valley area who have a sensory impairment for over 10 years, has announced that the recent pop up charity shop in Grangemouth brought in £2000, double the anticipated target.

Running for just one week at the end of July, the shop, in Grangemouth’s La Porte Precinct, was managed by a team of volunteers who were thanked with an afternoon tea in Café Tiki at the Centre this week.

Lynne Frail, Fundraising Coordinator said:
“We were overwhelmed by the level of support we received and how well the shop did. It surpassed all our expectations.

“It wouldn’t have been possible without the donations we received from the public and our Centre users and of course the amount of work put in by our volunteers. I would like to pass on our thanks once again to everyone who helped out in the shop and made it such a success.”

The funds raised will go directly to helping people with a sensory impairment across Forth Valley, including social groups, events and other activities.

Lynne Frail added:
“The funds raised will stay within Forth Valley and help people all across Falkirk, Stirling and Clackmannanshire. This is a great example of community fundraising and we are really proud of the achievement. Our final thanks have to go to Falkirk Council for providing us with the opportunity.”

Volunteer Sharon Stirling commented:
“I really enjoyed working in the shop. There was such a great buzz about the place the day seemed really short. It was also good to be able to tell more people about the Centre and what it does for the Forth Valley communities.”
