On 17th September 2015, a BSL Bill was passed in the Scottish Parliament, giving Scotland the BSL (Scotland) Act 2015. 6 years since this event, British Deaf Association Scotland reflect on what impact the BSL (Scotland) Act 2015 has had in Scotland.
The video below covers those feelings and how local authorities, Scottish Government and more have changed since the introduction of the Act.
During the Covid-19 pandemic The Scottish Government was widely praised for the inclusion of a BSL interpreter during the regular public briefings, something which was missing from UK Government broadcasts.
