Forth Valley Deaf Children’s Fiesta!

Forth Valley Deaf Children’s Society recently held their annual family day here at the Centre and this year, the theme was a summer fiesta!

Garish shirts and shorts were on display all afternoon even if the weather wasn’t always quite so supportive!

There were lots of great activities put on, with the National Deaf Children’s Society technology roadshow bus in attendance to provide helpful support and advice for the 100+ attendees on the day. Children got up close and personal with a range of snakes, spiders and other creatures as well as enjoying face painting, arts and crafts and much more. Parents benefited from the wealth of advice on offer from all the other attendees.

Jenn Pow, who organised the Event on behalf of Forth Valley Deaf Children’s Society said:

“We had all the seasons in one day but that didn’t stop the party spirit. It was great to see so many people here once again having fun, making new friends and learning more about the support available to families who have a child with a hearing condition.

“A huge thanks to the staff and volunteers who helped us out on the day and to the Forth Valley Sensory Centre for once again allowing us to turn the building into a completely crazy place to be! We’d also like to thank Morrison’s and Asda for providing toys and drinks for the event.”

Feedback from all those who attended was exceptional, although there was one request for more hotdogs!

The event had BSL interpreters on all afternoon making sure conversation was flowing and all activities were fully accessible.
