Another busy week ahead of us this week!
On Monday there will be a VisionZone Exhibition happening here at the centre from 10am-2pm in the Halls. There will be stalls from Optelec, Triple Tap Tech, Guide Dogs, DeafBlind Scotland, Macular Society, Sight Scotland Veterans, and Falkirk Health and Social Care Partnership. There will be demonstrations of technology and magnifiers as well as information stands. No appointment necessary, why not pop along and visit! And while you’re at it why not come along and have a cup of tea and a bit of cake to start off your week in our Café.
The Sensory Singers are back on Monday from 10.30am-12pm. The sensory singers are a social singing group that is open to new members, sessions cost £5 and are led by Choir Leader Aimee Toshney. Please note that the Group will be taking place in the Tech Hub this week rather than their usual place in the halls. We will be taking a short three week break after this week’s session and will return on the 16th May.
Also on Monday our Knit and Natter group will be meeting from 1pm-3pm. This group is open to all ages and abilities (or even those that would rather just have a natter!) No group cost, but refreshments can be purchased from the cafe. This group will also be taking place in the Tech hub for this week only.
Monday Voices Off class happens this evening from 6.30-7.30pm. This is a weekly, conversational British Sign Language class that is open to anyone who would like to learn some basic BSL. Please contact Allan for more information on spaces at allan.simpson@falkirk.gov.uk.
The Talk and Sign Group will be back in the café for their April meeting from 7pm-9pm. We will be making Easter bonnets and painting eggs! This group meets on the third Monday monthly and participates in a range of social activities.
The BSL OAP Group will be meeting for their usual session on Wednesday between 12.30pm and 2.30pm.
Wednesday sees the return of our art and graft group, led by Val Martin. These sessions cost £5 which covers cost of materials. If you’d like to channel your inner crafter this is the group for you! We try out a variety of different art and craft styles. You can see some of our group’s work around the centre so why not come along and check it out.
The Braille Group is back Thursday from 10am-12pm. This is a college led class. If you are interested in learning more about learning to read and write braille please contact us on the information below.
On Friday our Youth Group will be back for their weekly evening sessions from 6pm-7.15pm. This group is open to p7-S6 pupils with sensory loss and their siblings/friends. Get in touch for more information.
The Deaf Club will be back to their usual slot from 7pm-10pm on Friday too!

Please note that we only have a small number of lateral flow kits available. These will no longer be being provided to us so once these are all gone there will be no more. Due to this only one kit per person will be given until we run out. Thank you for understanding.
