Another busy and fun filled week ahead of us here at Forth Valley Sensory Centre. Remember our Café Tiki is open to the general public every day from 9am-3pm.
Our next Lunch Bunch is happening a week today on 20th June from 12.15pm-1.30pm, if you’d like to pop along for some lunch and some light entertainment this is the group for you. This costs £6.50 and covers a main and a dessert. If you’d like to come along let us know by Friday 17th June.
Our Choir is back on Monday from 10.30am-12pm after unfortunately having to cancel their last session. We will be practicing for our recording for the Summer Fayre so hopefully the sun will grace us to inspire them! Our Choir meets fortnightly, is led by Aimee Toshney and costs £5.
Also on Monday, our Knit and Natter group will be meeting from 1pm-3pm. This group is open to all ages and abilities (or even those that would rather just have a natter!) No group cost, but refreshments can be purchased from the cafe.
Jill will be back with another lip reading class from 4pm-6pm. These classes are open to anyone, though they can be particularly helpful for people who have lost their hearing in some capacity or might have audio processing issues. If you’d like to learn more about lip reading or if you’d like to sign up for future sessions, please get in touch.
Monday Voices Off class happens this evening from 6.30-7.30pm. This is a weekly, conversational British Sign Language class that is open to anyone who would like to learn some basic BSL. Please contact Allan for more information on spaces at allan.simpson@falkirk.gov.uk.
On Tuesday our Stirling BPS Group are heading out to the Falkirk Helix for a session with Cycling Without Age on their trishaws. There will also be the chance for a wee cup of tea and a blether in the Helix hub café. This group meets on the second Tuesday of each month, from 11am-1pm and is open to anyone in the Stirling area with a sight loss.
The IT classes are on this Tuesday at 1pm-3pm and 3pm-5pm, and Friday 1pm-3pm. There are still spaces on our Tuesday and Friday classes, so if you are interested in learning more about IT, including accessibility around tablets and phones, please get in touch. Classes cost £5.
The BSL OAP Group will be meeting for their usual session on Wednesday between 12.30pm and 2.30pm.
The FVSC led ‘Voices Off’ Cafe for learning and practicing basic BSL is back on Thursday from 11am-12.30pm. This is led by volunteers and supported by FVSC staff, the group meets fortnightly and is always open to new participants.
On Friday the Braveheart Group will be leaving from the Sensory Garden at 11.30am for their usual leisurely walk around the local area. This lasts from approximately 45-60 minutes with the opportunity to come and enjoy our delightful café afterwards. All welcome.
The Youth Group will be back from 6pm-7.15pm. This group meets weekly and enjoy a variety of different games and activities. Open to P7-S6 pupils and their friends and siblings.
And lastly but certainly not least, the Deaf Club will be back for their session from 7pm-10pm.
