After a long break, our Falkirk VI Social Group makes its return on Monday from 10.30am-12pm, we will be having refreshments and a chat about what they’d like to do in future sessions. This group is open to anyone with a visual impairment, we do a variety of different talks, activities and social outings.
Also this evening, Voices Off will be back from 6.30pm-7.30pm for another session of conversational BSL. This is not a qualification but a chance to learn some basic BSL or brush up on your skills. On Tuesday our Stirling VI Group will be heading to their new digs in Victoria Hall, Dunblane! We’ll be having a talk with our very own Sara Burns, energy redress coordinator, who will be telling the group a bit about what she does at the centre and what they can do to reduce their carbon footprint.
The IT Classes will be back with Tom Paterson on Tuesday, Thursday and Friday this week, from 1pm-3pm, and an additional 3pm-5pm slot on Tuesdays. Please note that numbers are limited for these classes so please contact Linsey for availability. These classes aim to boost confidence in using PC’s and Tablets and their accessibility features. Classes cost £5.
Wednesday is our busiest day of the week! Firstly we have our History Group meeting at the centre from 11am-12pm, we’ll be having a talk on Street Names with former provost and Chairman of the Board, Pat Reid! An interpreter is available for this group.
Also on Wednesday our Art and Craft group are meeting from 1.15pm-3.15pm, this class is open to all, and is led by art tutor Val Martin. Class costs £5 to cover materials. We work on a range of different medium from weaving, embossing, felting, clay work and many more!
Sara has her Energy Redress Drop-in session on Wednesday from 10am-1pm, this is open to anyone who would like to learn more about climate challenge and what this means, or if you’d like advice on ways you can save energy or help with your bills. The BSL OAP group will also be meeting for their weekly session on Wednesday from 12.30pm-2.30pm.
Slimming World will also be back on Wednesday, running from 5pm-7pm. Please contact your local Slimming World rep for more information.
The morning fortnightly BSL Voices Off cafe will be returning on Thursday (change of day from where it was previously Wednesday) from 10.30am-12pm.
The Braveheart Association will be meeting for their weekly walk from the Sensory Garden at 11.30am. This is a leisurely walk around the local area that lasts 40-60 minutes and is suitable for all ages and fitness levels.
Also on Friday evening the Deaf Club will be meeting in the halls from 7pm-10pm.
On Friday our Youth Group will be meeting again at their new earlier time of 6pm-7.15pm, we have all kinds of fun things including a Nintendo Switch, Oculus VR, crafting and flipbook kits, colouring, games and much more. This group is open to young people with sensory loss.
