What’s on at Forth Valley Sensory Centre 01/02/21

We may not have many online groups on this week, but never fear there are still many things happening that you can get involved with!

On Monday 1st February we have our first new BSL Practice session with our Talk and Sign Group, this is open to anyone who would like to brush up on their BSL skills (I know I’ve been feeling rusty myself!) this session will take place on zoom from 7pm-8pm.

Thursday will see a new Bitesize Fitness with David.

On Friday Jill Bradshaw will be holding a session with the Lipreading Class on zoom in the morning. If you are interested in learning more about lipreading and would be interested in a taster session or joining our waiting list then please get in touch.

Our weekly news podcast will also be out on Friday for your local news fix. We have taken over from Newsline at the moment, if you are interested in joining our mailing list for this or if you would like to be sent a memory stick with the podcast on it please ask.

We do also have some activities that are not online if you feel like you need a break!

Our Art and Crafts group are going to be receiving packs from tutor Val Martin this week which have a new fun embossing task to try, this also comes with an instructional video. Even though we can’t currently meet in person we are keen to keep those creative juices flowing, so if you’d be interested in finding out more about our art group we are always happy to include more people.

Are you a knitter? Our knitters may not be able to natter with each other in person at the moment but we are currently working on a fun ‘Yarn Bomb’ project to decorate the Sensory Garden for the Spring. If you like knitting, crocheting or even pom-pom making we are making squares, bunting, flowers and pompoms and we will happily take donations from any knitters or community groups out there that would like to get involved.

We are still looking for people who would be interested in joining a new Tinnitus Group. This will be online on zoom, with phone in and an interpreter available should anyone require one. This group can be arranged for any time of day, so if you work but are concerned that we might not run a group at a time that suits, get in touch and we will do our best to accommodate. This group will be a British Tinnitus Association registered group, and will be working closely with the NHS Audiology team to bring you tips and tools to aid living with tinnitus.

We do have many groups still running despite being closed to the public. If you would like to find out more about any of our groups and activities please get in touch with Linsey at linseystocks@forthvalleysensorycentre.org
