Great news for anyone in Forth Valley who has a sensory condition but loves singing in the shower, or indeed just lets music set the mood, our ‘Sensory Singers’ are back on 18th October 2021 with a new leader, Aimee Toshney!
The Singers are one of our most high profile groups, known for their Christmas singsongs in local supermarkets and more.
The group, which prides itself on focusing on enthusiastic participation rather than singing ability, has been out of action since March 2020 thanks to the pandemic.
During that time, leader Catriona, decided to step down from her role and focus more on her family. The Singers had a suitably musical send off in our Sensory Garden a few weeks ago.
This prompted a search for a replacement via Facebook initially and Aimee was very quick to respond. Having studied at University of Glasgow, Aimee has performed on many stages, teaches music and has led various choirs so she brings a lot of experience! Importantly, Aimee uses a keyboard to accompany the songs, something which our Sensory Singers are very familiar with.
Groups and Activities Co-Ordinator Linsey Stocks said:
“It is brilliant that one of our best loved groups will soon be warming up the vocal chords to sing again! Aimee came in and met our singers a few weeks ago and we are all raring to get started. We are also hoping that with Aimee’s support, the Sensory Singers will be able to perform at more outside events and continue to help raise the profile of the Centre and our work to support deaf and blind people locally.
“New members are always welcome. There are no auditions, just a desire to take part and have some fun! Contact the Centre if you would like to know more.”

As you can see from the below, clip, our singers do not take themselves too seriously!
