Oven is cooked!

Sadly for fans of our homemade food from the Cafe, David’s oven has taken a turn for the worst today and has bowed out in dramatic style.

We’ll be looking for a replacement oven as soon as possible but these things cost and like any charity or indeed most households, these unexpected costs are not easy to swallow.

If anyone fancies helping us out so we can get David back up and cooking as quick as we can and Cafe visitors can keep enjoying our healthy, homecooked grub then any donation would be welcome! You can donate through MyDonate on our page here.

The Cafe is in many ways the heart of the Centre and David’s meals are always popular. Soup production is unaffected for anyone concerned there but as David is blind we need to make sure we get the right kind of gas oven and hob. We’ll also be adding bump-ons to make sure he can tell which ring is on or off and his common cooking temperatures. Being blind doesn’t mean you can’t cook, you just need to do some things a little differently!

Hopefully a new oven will be in place soon. In the meantime, any help would be appreciated! You can find out more about David and his cooking on the BBC website
