Mad Hatters Tea Party 5th March

We are holding our first ever ‘virtual’ Afternoon Tea on 5th March at 2pm! Dubbed the ‘Mad Hatter’s Tea Party’ attendees are invited to wear or create their craziest headwear with the best best being judged by the host.

The event is being hosted by Sensory Centre Chair of the Board and former Falkirk Provost, Pat Reid. While the event is online, there is nothing virtual about the food with each guest being sent out a delicious box so everyone can take part together.

The Afternoon Tea package costs just £12 collected from the Centre or £15 delivered and is packed with favourite tray bakes, sandwiches and even handmade empire biscuits, courtesy of the Centre’s Café Supervisor, Carol Dawson.

The plan is the brainchild of the Centre’s own fundraising group, made up of Centre Users from Falkirk, Stirling and Clackmannanshire. Fundraising Manager Martin Allen commented:

“We have had a year of lockdowns now and this latest one, combined with the poor weather has really left people feeling down. A lot of our Centre Users are very isolated by their sight or hearing conditions under normal circumstances so lockdown is especially hard on them.

“Our fundraising group wanted to do something fun and maybe bring in a little to our coffers. The Afternoon Tea is a much anticipated of the calendar at the Centre and our Café is often the beating heart of the building. At the same time, a lot of our fundraising has had to be put on hold.

“With the Café and halls closed two major revenue streams have been taken away so all donations are gratefully received. This idea delivers that much anticipated Afternoon Tea in a new way providing a great chance to catch up with our Centre Users and supporters with the added bonus of cake! We already tested the idea with a small group of Centre Users and the feedback on the food was amazing.”

Tickets!

Tickets are limited to just 30. Food will be delivered in the morning of 5th March or boxes can be collected from the Centre. Those taking part will be allocated a collection time in order to maintain Covid security.

To take part, simply make a donation of £12 or £15 per person via our online donation portal at www.givey.com/forthvalleysensorycentre and then email us your receipt to sensory@forthvalleysensorycentre.org along with any dietary requirements.

Please note, orders placed after Tuesday 2nd March will not be accepted as we need to make sure we buy in all our ingredients nice and fresh but all at once.

Each order, per person, will consist of; four cakes: scone, empire biscuit, Mars bar tray bake and chocolate coated shortbread. Sandwiches (two per person) fillings: smoked ham and cream cheese, tuna mayo with red onion, bbq chicken, egg mayo, spring onion.
