Countdown to Success!

Our Countdown event on 4th April 2019 raised over £300 and was judged a great success by all who attended. Huge thanks to Chair of the Board, Pat Reid and Falkirk Football Club legend Alex Totten for supporting the night with their banter and repartie.

Organised by our Fundraising Committee which meets on the third Monday of each month, the Countdown night was ‘something a bit different’ for the Centre. The challenge was on to make it accessible to deaf and blind people too.

We used braille letters and had BSL support from Sign Language Interactions to make sure as many people as possible could join in the fun.

As with TV’s Countdown, two teams competed at the front with members of the audience vying to see who could top their scores. There was some brain power on display though! One person found a nine letter word, another table got the conundrum in a matter of seconds and some wizard maths skills to boot!

Centre Manager, Jacquie Winning commented:

“What a great night with a lovely atmosphere! A huge thanks to Alex and Pat for their support. They really know how to work an audience. Big thank you too to Nan for organising the event, our volunteers, Clarissa and Jennifer for their hard work before, during and after the event and Mark from SLI who had to sign some very complicated maths!”

Look out for our next fundraising events on Facebook and Twitter. We are planning another Afternoon Tea in the near future, bingo, Race Night, quiz and our charity shop returns to La Porte Precinct in Grangemouth this June!

If you would like to help out with planning and delivering events like this, our Fundraising Group could always use additional help, support and ideas. Contact sensory@forthvalleysensorycentre.org for more information.

  1. Sorry I could not get through.

    Answer to maths question 6 + 5 = 11

    8 +2 = 10

    Use the 9 X 11 = 99

    99X the 10 = 999
