Charity Shop 5th March 2018!
Forth Valley Sensory Centre will once again have use of the charity shop in Grangemouth for one week, courtesy of Falkirk Council. This year, the store will be open from 9am to 4pm from Monday 5th March, closing 1pm Saturday 10th March.
The Charity Shop will be staffed by volunteers, Sensory Centre staff and managed by local fundraiser, Barbara Macdonald who has offered to help reach the hoped for £2000 target. Mrs Macdonald is a regular fundraiser for various local charities and has run the shop on six previous occasions, raising thousands of pounds in the process.
Her husband has lost his eyesight and as such has been supported by the various partners at the Sensory Centre.
Martin Allen, Partnership Manager at Forth Valley Sensory Centre said:
“The Charity Shop has become a key part of our fundraising calendar, not only because we have raised over £4000 in the last two years but also because it is a great chance for us to engage with people in Grangemouth and raise the profile of the Centre.
“We’ll have information on the services that we and our partners NHS Forth Valley, Scottish War Blinded, action on Hearing Loss, RNIB and Stirling Council can provide as well as the many groups and classes held at the Centre. It is really important to us that people see what the money goes towards and with 20% of older people suffering sight or hearing loss we know that many people visiting the shop also know a friend or family member who could benefit from our services.”
The shop is based in the La Porte Precinct in Grangemouth and items for sale can be dropped off on Friday 2nd March from 11am. Donations of good quality, clean clothing for men, women and children are welcome along with children’s toys, bags and accessories and general good quality bric-a-brac. Please note we are unable to accept items which might be considered dangerous such as swords or other large blades and similar items. If you have a number of items which you would struggle to bring along, do get in touch and we can see if there is a way we can collect.
Also on sale will also be the wedding dresses and evening gowns from designers like Jacques Vert and Alfred Angelo which haven’t been sold prior to the event. For a catalogue and images see our the post here
