Book Group February

Our Book group met on Tuesday at 10am (we meet the third Tuesday of every month if you are interested in joining us!) and this month we were discussing ‘Corrag’ by Susan Fletcher.

Group Rating: 7/10 overall for the book 7/10 Narrator (if audiobook)

Synopsis: In ‘Corrag’, Susan Fletcher tells us the story of an epic historic event, of the difference a single heart can make – and how deep and lasting relationships can come from the most unlikely places.

Group discussion: Some of the book group had previously read the book when it was run by the library but had been 4 or 5 years since they last read it. The overall consensus was that it wasn’t as enjoyable the second time around, and that they had forgotten some of the things that had happened, however it was still an okay book, although could do with being a bit shorter as it was a bit meandering in places.

The group particularly enjoyed the descriptions, these were very visual and quite poetic.

The back cover of the book makes mention of the Massacre at Glencoe, but this doesn’t happen until near the end of the book and doesn’t impact the story as much as expected. Due to this the book does seem to drag on a little bit and the group agreed that it could have been shorter.

Overall rating: 7/10!
