Another fun-filled week ahead of us here at FVSC with more groups trickling back after the summer break. Note that our Cafe Tiki is also open to the public Monday-Friday 9am-3pm, and our sensory room is now £6 per hour (to book your slot phone us at the centre on 01324 590880).
On Monday our Knit and Natter Group is back from 1pm-3pm. This group meets fortnightly and enjoy knitting, crocheting and a blether! If you are looking to get back into knitting/crocheting, or are just starting out this is also something that our volunteers can help with, knitting needles and wool are available. There is no group cost, but if you wish refreshments these can be purchased from the cafe.
Also making a return on Monday is the lip-reading class with Jill Bradshaw from 4pm-6pm. If you would like to learn more about lip-reading and what these classes entail please get in touch.
The Talk and Sign Group will be making their second attempt at paddle boarding after it had to be rescheduled due to weather last week. We’ll be heading off to @PaddleboardFife at Kinghorn, so keep an eye out on social media for our exciting adventure! Also, we were at @EdBookFest this weekend, you can still check out Scotland’s Stories Now, which had three of our stories, here: https://www.edbookfest.co.uk/the-festival/whats-on/scotland-s-stories-now-17695 until Tuesday at 1pm.
And lastly but not least our Voices Off class will be back this evening from 6.30pm-7.30pm. This relaxed British Sign Language group is open to everyone who might like to learn or practice BSL. For more information on this class please contact Allan Simpson at allan.simpson@falkirk.gov.uk.

These run Tuesday 1pm-3pm and 3pm-5pm, Thursday 1pm-3pm (college only, this class is closed to new interest at present), and Friday 1pm-3pm. We will have spaces on our Tuesday and Friday classes for anyone who would like to learn more about computers, tablets and phones and their accessibility features. Class costs £5 for fully supported expert tutelage. Interpreter can be provided on request.
On Tuesday we are also hosting an Older Person’s Strategy Event. The invites have already been sent out, the tea is on order, and our centre users will have a chance to have their say. An interpreter and transcription service will be available for this event.
The BSL OAP group will return for their usual session on Wednesday from 12.30pm-2.30pm.
On Thursday the Braille Class will return from 10.30am-12pm. This group is a college accredited class led by experienced brailler Christine Moroney. This class runs weekly term time.

The Braveheart Group will be leaving the centre for their usual walk from the centre at 11.30am on Friday. This is a leisurely walk around the local area that lasts approx 45-60 minutes with the option to pop into Cafe Tiki for some lunch and a cuppa afterwards. Sighted Guides provided if necessary.
On Friday there will be NO Youth Group. We will return on the 9th September.
