What’s On W/C 9th May

We’re back for another fun-filled week here at the centre! Firstly we still have some squares available on our Welcome Desk Competition–Guess where we’re going on holiday. Pick a square, pay £1 and once all the boxes are filled we’ll draw a winner for a bag of summer goodies!


The Voices Off cafe is back on Monday evening from 6.70pm-7.30pm. If you’d like to come along and learn or practice some conversational British Sign Language then this is the group for you! On Tuesday our Stirling Group will be meeting at the Bannockburn Heritage Centre Cafe for a spot of tea and cake and a chat with Sara about energy saving. This group meets on the second Tuesday of the month from 11am-1pm, they enjoy trips around the local area, talks from other organisations and (perhaps most importantly) a bit of a blether! The group welcomes new members.


The IT classes are back this week on Tuesday at 1pm-3pm and 3pm-5pm, Thursday 1pm-3pm, and Friday 1pm-3pm. There are still spaces on our Tuesday and Friday classes, so if you are interested in learning more about IT, including accessibility around tablets and phones, please get in touch we still have spaces in our Tuesday and Friday classes. Classes cost £5. Our History Group is back this Wednesday from 11am-12pm, this month we have former Provost Pat Reid coming along to give us a talk on Falkirk History. The history group is always open to new members, meets on the second Wednesday of the month, and an interpreter is provided.


The BSL OAP Group will be meeting for their usual session on Wednesday between 12.30pm and 2.30pm.


Also on Wednesday our Art Group will be back from 1.15pm-3.15pm. This group meets fortnightly, costs £5 which covers costs of materials and expert tutelage by our wonderful Val Martin. We try out many different art forms so if you’d like to try your hands at arts and crafts this is the group for you!
The Braille Group is back this week on Thursday from 10am-12pm. This is a college led class. If you are interested in learning more about learning to read and write braille please contact us on the information below.


The Braveheart Association still have their weekly walk which meets at the Sensory Garden every Friday at 11.30am. This is open to all, and is a leisurely walk around the local area that lasts around 45-60 minutes.
On Friday our Youth Group will be back for their weekly evening sessions from 6pm-7.15pm. This group is open to p7-S6 pupils with sensory loss and their siblings/friends. Get in touch for more information.
The Deaf Club will be back to their usual slot from 7pm-10pm on Friday too!
