We are delighted to be partnering with New College Lanarkshire to be delivering a free SQA accredited course in Health & Safety.
This will be run over four days in January/February with BSL interpreter support available for those that require one. Upon successful completion you will be awarded with an SQA qualification – a great addition to your CV and a great qualification to help you stand out from the crowd. Best of all, there is no cost.
This is part of our ongoing Employability Project which you can read more about here. Project Coordinator, Kim Grant said:
“This is just one of the many ways we are trying to improve equality in the work place. I’ve already helped several people with CV writing and interview skills and supported them to make sure they get a fair interview with any support they need, as required by the Equality Act.
“This particular partnership with New College Lanarkshire, is all about helping people with sensory conditions get the skills they need to stand out as a candidate. It is sad that even today, so many people with sight or hearing impairments are not in employment despite wanting to work and feel they are making a contribution. Many are highly skilled and motivated and we need to make sure they have a chance to shine.”
The course will run at Forth Valley Sensory Centre on the following dates:
Tuesday 25th Jan 10 – 1pm
Wednesday 26th Jan 10-1pm
Friday 28th Jan 10 – 1pm
Tuesday 1st Feb 10 – 1pm
Each day will be approximately three hours.
If you are interested in signing up for the SQA Qualification, or want to know more about our Employability Project by booking a talk with Kim (she is able to support job seekers, employers and those currently employed but managing a sensory condition) please email Kim Grant on kimgrant@forthvalleysensorycentre.org – limited spaces available!
