Energy prices will rise for millions of people across the UK in April.

You might heard or seen news that the regulator Ofgem has said the price cap for default domestic energy deals would raise from April 2021 to cover suppliers' extra costs.

What does this mean and what can you do about it?

Well, this will mean your electricity bill could go up as much as £1,138 a year or even as much as £1,156 a year if you have a prepayment meter.

With many of the government’s Covid-related support schemes due to finish at the same time, this will leave many people struggling to pay their electricity and gas bills this winter.

Ofgem usually set a price raise cap twice a year to help keep fuel costs for customers’ low. However, due to raising gas and electricity costs for suppliers they have had to raise the cap to keep up with market increases.

So what can you do to help keep fuel bills low? We have lots of hints and tips on our website which will help you keep fuel costs down but still keep you home warm.

We have video guides, bi-monthly e-zines packed full of useful information and a monthly zoom Green Café where we chat about a variety of topics that can help you save energy and money in your home. These are all in accessible formats for screen readers and BSL translation.
