Everyone at Forth Valley Sensory Centre was saddened to hear of the passing of Jimmy Stevenson a few months ago from Covid-19.
Jimmy was a ‘well kent face’ at the Centre, taking part in our Falkirk Blind and Partially Sighted Social Group. He and his wife Isobel were also big supporters of the Centre along with Isobel’s sister Nan Cassidy and her husband John. Nan and Isobel are well known for their woolen Christmas and Easter decorations which have been sold at the Centre for a number of years, always a firm feature of our Winter Fair.
With Jimmy and Isobel having such an attachment to the Centre, it was only right to mark Jimmy’s memory in our Sensory Garden. With the agreement of Isobel, who supplied the wording, we have fitted a wee plaque to one of the benches in the garden which serves as a place to sit quietly and reflect as well as a place to catch up with friends, simply enjoy some sunshine or take respite in the simple play of little ones.
Isobel has also made a £200 donation to the Centre which in these hard times is very generous and welcome.
Centre Manager Jacquie Winning said: “Our heartfelt condolences to Isobel and all of Jimmy’s family for his passing, It really brought home the horrible nature of this terrible virus. Jimmy’s smile will be missed by all at the Centre but his memory will live on. I’d like to thank Isobel for the generous donation too. It means a lot to us and our Centre Users will certainly be appreciative too.”
