Donate to Forth Valley Sensory Centre

Forth Valley Sensory Centre is a charity and runs on a not for profit basis. While we are grateful for the support given to us by our funders, this does not meet all the costs of the great service we provide. Read more about how to donate to the Centre and support our work.

Community Fundraising

Here at Forth Valley Sensory Centre, community fundraising is an important part of what we do. Every donation is a massive help to us as an ambitious and growing charity and the funds raised through community fundraising events help us to develop and expand our services.

Our FVSC Garden Party took place earlier this year in July and raised a total of £1351.51, this doubled the funds we were expecting from the event and was a huge success! This event was full of entertainment, including some handmade games like our mini pitch and putt as well as our sponge splat game. We also hosted a number of local sight/hearing-loss organisations as well as some local businesses selling crafts, sweeties and more. This event was such a success we have added it to our list of annual events!

Our annual Winter Fayre will be taking place on Friday, 29th November this year from 10am – 2pm. We will be inviting a number of local businesses, selling crafts, sweeties, handmade Christmas presents, cards and more! This event is open to all and there is set to be fun for all the family. This event is free to attend and publicity regarding this event will be available via our Facebook page (@FVSensoryCentre) later this year.

We have also started to host some new community fundraising events specially designed for adult with learning disabilities and their support workers/staff/families. Previously we hosted an Adult Easter Party, including an Easter egg hunt for attendees. There were a range of activities available to take part in for both attendees and support staff, including our famous FVSC tombola, funfair style games with fantastic prizes being won, egg painting, colouring-in and more. We received such amazing feedback from participants and staff that we have decided to keep these events going!

Our next event for adults with learning disabilities will take place on Thursday, 31st October, 11am – 1pm and will be a Halloween Party! We will once again have a wide range of activities including apple decorating, spooky crafts and even a Halloween themed bake sale. All are welcome to attend with family, friends and support staff as there will be something for everyone to take part in, entry is free with no booking necessary so feel free to come along. Fancy dress is encouraged.

Finally, we have been running a number of Welcome Desk competitions this year. Our latest competition is our Paralympic Prize Stake, all participants have to do to be in with a chance to win is simply guess how many medals they think 5 of the top countries will win in this year’s 2024 Paris Paralympics. All guesses cost £1 and our 3 lucky winners will be receiving a gift voucher. If you would be interested in taking part, these competitions can be entered either at our Welcome Desk of in our on-site café, Café Tiki.

You can arrange a fundraising event which we will be delighted to promote through our social media channels.

You can raise money through sponsorship too. If you are a UK taxpayer Forth Valley Sensory Centre will receive gift aid on your donation. All amounts, no matter how small (or big) are gratefully received and directly benefit people within the Forth Valley area.

Previous fundraising activities have included getting a tattoo (not for the faint hearted!) and abseiling off the Forth Rail Bridge, one of Scotland’s most recognisable landmarks. If you have another idea, get in touch by emailing sensory@forthvalleysensorycentre.org.

Legacy Giving

Why not make a big difference with your money and support sensory impaired people after you’ve gone?

Of course, this is something no one really likes to think about but, if you choose to leave a gift for Forth Valley Sensory Centre in your Will, you can help people living with a sight and hearing loss achieve greater independence.  A legacy ensures that FVSC can continue to provide its charitable services to clients in the Forth Valley Area of Scotland.

By the age of 75, twenty per cent of us will have some sort of sight loss. By age 90, fifty per cent of us will have a sight loss and ninety percent of us will have a hearing loss, with many people having both a sight and a hearing loss.  As the population ages, the demand for the caring services of FVSC will only increase.

A Will is easy to do and will protect your loved ones from extra worry after you have passed away. All solicitors will provide this service and be able to advise how to leave a gift to FVSC should you wish to donate.  We have partnered with Solicitors for Older People Scotland and provided training for some of their staff members on helping people with sensory loss. Centre users can recieve a discount on services but the Centre recieves no payment from SOPS for this service, it is just about guiding our Centre Users to an organisation which we feel fits our values and will offer the right support.
