Bitesize Exercise with David – Block 1

Staying fit while staying home can be hard so we have a new Bitesize Exercise class with David Black to keep you healthy in lockdown. David is our cook and an instructor with The Scottish Centre for Personal Safety. The exercises are blind friendly (David is blind himself) and designed to focus as much on keeping limber as getting a sweat on.

David hopes the Bitesize Exercise will get a little more intense each week but there will always be a simpler or easier option for those that can’t manage. Do remember the most important one is the warm up! Don’t exercise without making sure you have warmed up first as you can risk injury.

In making these Bitesize Exercise videos, we went to the Sensory Garden (with social distancing and hand sanitiser) but it is essential that you make sure that your surroundings are safe, especially if you have sight loss, before you start. Forth Valley Sensory Centre cannot accept any liability for accidents or injuries by not following the instructions.

So moving on to the good bit… The first three videos focus on the all important warm up, some upper body work and some lower body exercises designed to help balance and coordination.

Exercise also helps maintain good mental health, aiding sleep, raising energy levels and giving you a good feeling. Falkirk Health and Social Care Partnership Sensory Services Team recently made a great video explaining this. you can access it via their facebook page here.

We hope you have fun. Do follow us for more fitness fun from David!
