Trustee Opportunity

Forth Valley Sensory Centre (FVSC) provides a wide range of high quality services for children, adults and elderly people living with either a hearing or sight impairment.

FVSC is looking to appoint a new Trustee to represent Centre Users who are deaf or hard of hearing and to provide governance to enable even more people with sensory loss to enjoy the best possible quality of life. The new Trustee will join the organisation at an exciting and challenging time with the opportunity to help transform services and extend our reach.

The Board are seeking to appoint a dedicated individual, with personal authority, skills and connections to ensure due governance is observed. The essential criteria for the post of Trustee are :

• The ability to represent Centre Users who are deaf or have a hearing loss
• A proven track record of leadership within the private, public or third sector
• The ability to develop strong and effective relationships with the other Board members
• Good communication and networking skills
• An interest and empathy with the needs of people living with a sensory impairment
• The ability to become and ambassador and to raise the profile of the centre as well as contributing at a strategic level
• Attendance at the quarterly Board meetings, annual open meeting/AGM and occasional attendance at special Board meetings
• Liaising with the Chair, Board members and the Centre Manager as required

Forward Board meeting dates are as follows:
Thursday 17 January 2019 10am – 12 noon
Thursday 25 April 10am – 12 noon
Thursday 18 July 10am – 12 noon
Thursday 24 October 10am – 1pm AGM and Open Meeting
