Forth Valley Sensory Centre
Malvina Dwyer hosted a final fundraising event at her award-winning garden in Avonbridge last weekend in aid of the Forth Valley Sensory Centre. This fantastic visit was enjoyed by all and raised a record-breaking total for Malvina of over £1000. The proceeds from the event will go to FVSC’s lip-reading group which Malvina herself has benefitted from in the past. These proceeds will sustain the group for over a year.
The event on 5th August allowed centre users and members of the public to explore the beautiful gardens and woodlands. There was also a raffle, tombola and refreshments to enjoy including some delicious home-baked treats.
Malvina has opened her garden to the public in aid of local charities on many occasions but this event marked the final time due to Malvina’s ill health. Through these events over the last decade, Malvina has been successful in raising over £10,000 for local charities which includes over £3000 for Forth Valley Sensory Centre.
The centre and especially the lip-reading group, which often has a waiting list for new members, has benefitted hugely from Malvina’s generosity. The centre would like to thank Malvina and her family for running the event and supporting Forth Valley Sensory Centre over the years. See our What’s On guide for more information on lip reading and our other groups and classes.
