Forth Valley Sensory Centre

Braveheart Walks 2018

Braveheart, the local walking group for people over 50, start their monthly meanderings on 23rd January. Meet at the Centre for 1:15pm with a 1:30pm start.

The guided walk, which has been assessed for people of all abilities will start at our Cafe, take in the local area and end at Carmuirs Golf Course. Assistance to get back to the Centre will be available and the walk volunteers are sighted guide trained for those who need help on the route.

The Centre is also happy to contact people with BSL skills if any Deaf people would like to take part.

Partnership Manager Martin Allen commented:

“We are delighted to welcome Braveheart back to the Centre in 2018. The walks are a great social occasion and a way for anyone to get some gentle exercise with some great company. If you don’t start the walk knowing anyone, you will have several new friends by the end of it!”

Exercise, even gentle walking for 30 minutes has a beneficial effect on both physical and mental health. The Braveheart initiative is supported by Paths for All, NHS Forth Valley and The Robertson Trust. Walks are also dementia friendly.

A full list of monthly walks can be downloaded here and a list of weekly walks is available here. Transport to the starting points can be arranged from Camelon Education Centre for a small fee. Contact Eva Finlayson, Walking Development Officer, The Braveheart Association Tel:01324 673703 Email: eva.finlayson@nhs.net for more information.
